Registration, Lunch and KidsCamp will be located in the Tech Station (PG 6).
Please download this Release Form and fill out and sign before attending. We will have spares available, however, if you are able to download and print it will save time during registration day-of.
Parking Information
We have reserved free STUDENT parking on the 3rd and 4th floor for Saturday and Sunday in the Parking Garage (PG 6).
DO NOT PARK IN ADMIN OR FACULTY & STAFF SPACES.
Parking is free HOWEVER YOU MUST REGISTER YOUR VEHICLE.
You can register your vehicle on or after Thursday March 14th.
You only need to register ONCE for the whole weekend. Here’s how:
Before attending, register your vehicle with FIU Parking. (Chrome Desktop Users: Please try another browser.)
Fill in the license plate # and information about your vehicle (this information will be kept private and only to be used by FIU Parking Department).
Once you register your vehicle DO NOT HAVE TO DO IT AGAIN FOR ANY OTHER DAYS. One time register will cover you for the entire conference.
If you bring a different vehicle on different days, you’ll need to use the link again and register the different vehicle.

New Activities For Two Age Groups !!!
This year 2019, WordCamp Miami is breaking up kid’s activities on Saturday and Sunday into two age groups. We welcome all children that have been to WordCamp Miami in previous years and give a cheering welcome to newbies!!! Looking forward to seeing you and your parents or guardians. We are looking forward to having new activities for both groups centered around
STEAM Careers and Engineering.
Ages 6-12
Ages 6 to 12 will be engaged in S.T.E.A.M. related hands-on activities that will involve individual and team projects and Web Development. Science Technology Engineering Arts Math projects will be fun, engaging and hands-on. The theme for the youth will be: Saturday “STEAM Explorers: Exploring Careers in STEAM” and Sunday “Engineering Jr-preneurs” Parents are present to guide their child(ren) during the activities and inspire teamwork, creativity, innovative thinking, and most importantly FUN. Kids will be able to take their projects home and continue to work on them to build their skills and abilities.
Saturday, March 16th
STEAM Explorers:
Younger kids will be participating in individual and group STEAM Art activities to help them in exploring potential careers and businesses that are STEAM related. Kids will build their own blogs and learn how to post content using WordPress. Parents will work with their child(ren) to help them post content. Kids will be able to add their stories, photos, and more to their own WordPress sites.

Sunday, March 17th
Engineering Jr-preneurs:
Children and parents both are invited to see the WordCamp Miami annual Kid’s Panel on Sunday morning, with a full day of STEAM activities. The activities are designed to be fun and educational. The Kid’s Camp on Sunday will be operated and supervised by certified teachers and volunteers with experience in STEAM education.
The schedule is TBA, you do not want to miss this day of fun activities.

William Jackson and Aida Correa, Innovative STEAM Instructors. Providing activities that stir creative thinking and innovative design. Activities are hands-on using resources that build critical and higher order thinking, creativity in project-based learning and teamwork designed to encourage networking and collaboration.

This years panel is comprised of individuals making a difference in their community and use WordPress.
Olivia Bisset
Olivia Bisset has had 5 years experience with WordPress, and has used it in numerous projects. She is also a summer camp volunteer, a WordCamp volunteer for a number of years, and is currently learning JavaScript and Python as she begins a new year of homeschooling (after public school for the past eight years).
Jayda Washinton-Boothe
Jayda Washington-Boothe is a 5th grade Student at Manatee Bay Elementary. This is her 3rd year at WordCamp Miami 2019. Jayda uses WordPress, along with other coding software such as Microsoft’s MakeCode Arcade, Vex Modkit, Vex Scratch.
Jayda is a member of Black Girls Code- Miami Chapter, Manatee Bay Elementary Student Council, Safety Patrol, Regional Champion and State Competitor for Vex Robotics, and SECME. She was featured in Children’s Services Council 2018 Status of Girls and Young Women in Broward County, NBC Channel 6 Day of the Girl in STEM, and NASA Space Camp Finalist.
She volunteers at Dare to Care Outreach, The Faith Center Ministries Youth Department, Youth Service Day Events, and The Mayors Chess Challenge of Broward County.Her future career path is to become an engineer.

Older young ones that perhaps already know about WordPress or blogging will be expanding on this knowledge. We will provide the opportunity for children to expand their coding, business, blogging, sales and logic skills. This is a great gateway for kids to learn about design, coding, or marketing when it comes to websites!

This is a day all about marketing! How to take your hobby and turn it, potentially, into a real business. We will cover how to design a marketing plan and different marketing sources to target. We will also install Analytics on our website from Saturday to ensure we know what marketing strategies are working.

Chris Christoff
Chris is a partner and lead-developer of MonsterInsightsthe most popular Google Analytics plugin for WordPress. In his free time, he works on fixing WordPress core bugs and security issues. His code runs on over 2 million websites.

We will be providing lunch on Saturday and Sunday, but we ask if your child has any unique diet needs to bring a backup lunch just in case. Exact menus will be posted on this page with all the information. So please check back.

FAQs
Q: What ages are appropriate?
A: We recommend ages starting at 6 or 7 (depending on your child’s understanding of computers) for the younger track, and 13 and above for the e-commerce and coding track.
Q: What should I bring?
A: A fully charged laptop that can access Wifi.
Parents should have access to email that the kids can access during Kids Camp.
It is requested, but not required that parents bring a cell phone to participate in
the Scavenger Hunt.
