Science Technology Engineering Arts Math are key components for developing the next generation skills that prepare youth, teens and young adults for future careers.
Applying STEAM skills and the integration of The Arts helps youth to embrace and apply their artistic abilities no matter their technical skills. WordCamp Miami will have awesome STEAM activities that will work on the individual level and progress to the next level of group activity.
With the theme of “Cruise Ships” participants will build their own Origami cruise ship using paper, applying design theory, artistic creativity and even critical and higher order thinking skills.
Participants will build an origami cruise ship and then design the inside of their cruise ship by naming their ship, decide on its contents inside, what the purpose of the cruise ship is, where it is docked and its exotic destinations on their journeys on the seas of the world.
The group project will encourage community where all the ships they create will dock, participants will work together and name their harbor, decide how many ships it can hold, where the harbor will be located in the world and the purpose of the harbor. Participants will have many take-aways when completed to apply to real world learning and engagement with others.
William Jackson and Aida Correa seasoned WordCamp speakers, organizers and KidsCamp teachers are looking forward to working with the amazing and creative youth participating in KidsCamp Miami on Sunday, March 1st 2019.
