Aaron has over fifteen years of web development experience. He has been a regular contributor to WordPress for the last eight years, and even co-lead the WordPress 3.6 release. He’s committed to writing quality code that is both fast and scalable, and has a knack for translating ideas and goals into functional sites. Aaron has worked with clients ranging from small local businesses to Google, Yahoo, Disney, and Harvard. He’s been called both a coffee snob and a beer snob, but considers both to be compliments. When not buried in code, he enjoys spending time with his wife and son, attending or hosting beer tastings, and reading sci-fi/fantasy books.

Adam Culp

Adam Culp (@AdamCulp) author of “Refactoring 101” and consultant at Zend Technologies is passionate about developing with PHP and contributes to many open source projects. He organizes the SunshinePHP Developer Conference and South Florida PHP Users Group (SoFloPHP) where he enjoys helping others write good code, implement standards, refactor efficiently, and incorporate unit and functional testing into their projects. He is a Zend Certified PHP 5.3 Engineer, and holds a seat on the Zend Framework Certification Advisory Board. When he is not coding or contributing to various developer communities, he can be found hiking around the United States National Parks, teaching judo, or long(ultra) distance running.

Becky is an independent front-end developer specializing in custom WordPress themes and project management. Chris is a Senior Web Engineer for 10up and has been working on WordPress since 2008. Before joining 10up Chris built one of the largest security plugins in the WordPress community as well as numerous other plugins and solutions. When not coding Chris loves to teach and has presented at numerous WordCamps and other conferences as well as taught computer security for St. Edward’s University and other University courses ranging from computers to aviation.

Chrissie Scelsi

Chrissie Scelsi is the principal of Scelsi Entertainment and New Media Law with offices in Orlando and Port Charlotte, Florida, where she focuses her practice on entertainment, intellectual property, internet, technology, and business law. Ms. Scelsi has served as in house counsel for an international game based-simulations company, where she was responsible for advising on software licensing matters, trademarks, copyright, and corporate issues.

Ms. Scelsi began her practice in 2009, working with a punk music festival, and in years since has worked with clients ranging from software companies and independent filmmakers to professional daredevils and reality television participants. Dan Beil

Dan, hailing from Minneapolis, MN, has been a WordPress developer since 2009, focusing on front-end responsive code and clean admin interfaces. Prior to joining Alley Interactive, he worked on a large multi-site e-commerce WordPress install as an in-house developer at Blue Earth Interactive, and freelanced for four years prior to being at Blue Earth.

Dan frequently travels and speaks at WordCamps, talking about work / life balance, live coding for 2+ hours, and the intersection between design and development. David Hayes

David is part of the team at WPShout (http://wpshout.com), a premier source of WordPress tutorials, news, and more on the internet. He’s a developer who does a lot of intensive backend server work with PHP and more, along with a fair bit of JavaScript, and small helping of CSS. He likes to ride his bicycle at home in Colorado.

Devin Vinson

I started as a typical ‘little bit of everything’ web guy. WordPress was an open and accepting path full of tutorials and an amazing community which I grew to love and depend on.

Eventually I transitioned into full time development and built my resume up working as a subcontracted developer for small agencies and companies. This past year I joined Range as a “Code Ranger” where I’ve been doing theme and plugin development.

Free time is spent with my family, playing games, reading, or working on yet another side project.

Jason Nickerson

Jason Nickerson is a long time Open Source developer.  He is the co-founder of Monev Software, a development company focused on Joomla and WordPress. Jason is also the CEO of JoomlaXTC, one of the leading Joomla Template and Extension clubs. His love for coding and online endeavors started way back in the early 80’s with dial up modems and bulletin board systems. Jason has mastered some of the top CMS platforms, from PHP-Nuke in the early 2000’s to WordPress and Joomla over the past 8 years.

Jesse Petersen is a theme and plugin developer and the founder of Petersen Media Group, an exclusive Genesis framework agency in Tampa, FL. He is the face of the Genesis framework at the e-learning site, Treehouse, with two courses released and one in production. Since 2010 when Genesis was released, Jesse has been on the StudioPress Recommended Developer List. Jesse is a veteran WordCamp speaker of several business topics and is launching a Genesis theme shop called Genesis The.me. During college, Lisa became friends with fellow Internet enthusiast, David Laietta, who would go on to introduce her to the wonderful world of WordPress. Marc Benzakein

Marc Benzakein has been working online since the mid 90s, starting as a Network Administrator for a small, independent ISP in Southern California and has been involved in almost all aspects of technology. In 2009, he started developing in WordPress, first for his own purposes and then for clients. In early 2013, he got involved with ServerPress, LLC, makers of DesktopServer, a local development tool created for WordPress designers and developers.

Mason James

Mason James is a native Floridian who got his start volunteering for WordPress support in various forums in 2008 and landing a job as the Sales & Support Lead at WPMU Dev for 3 years. In 2012, he started WP Valet where he now leads a team of 15 awesome individuals who provide development, support, and peace of mind to WordPress site owners around the world.

Matt Cromwell

Matt is Brand Ambassador and Support Guru at WordImpress.com. He’s the author of many free WordPress plugins, a popular blogger at his website, an admin of the Advanced WordPress Facebook group, co-organizer of the San Diego WordPress Meetup, and a WordCamp speaker and frequent attender.

Michele Butcher

Michele is the lead WordPress Specialist at WP Security Lock cleaning hacked websites and teaching the masses how to stay secure in the WordPress world. She is also the head geek at Can’t Speak Geek. When at WordCamps you can find her talking and tweeting the awesomeness of InMotion Hosting while typically playing with one of their cool USB slap bracelets. Michele is also the lead organizer of the Southern Illinois WordPress Meetup and teaches beginners and Intermediate WordPress for John A Logan College.

Michelle Schulp

Michelle is an independent graphic designer, recently relocated to Minneapolis from Chicago. She was formally schooled in design including print, branding, packaging, etc., with additional education in Psychology and Sociology, all tying together in a love of How To Solve Problems. Lately she has been specializing in WordPress websites, infographics, and high-end presentations for her clients. She loves the WordPress community and speaks/volunteers/organizes at WordCamps and events around the country.

Morten Rand-Hendriksen

Morten Rand-Hendriksen built his first website in 1997 and has used the web to further communication between people ever since. He’s a staff author at lynda.com where he has published 50+ courses on WordPress and front-end development and also teaches web design and development at Emily Carr University of Art and Design.
In his spare time he co-organizes the Vancouver WordPress Meetup Group, contributes to WordPress core, and wears out his shoes on a ballroom dance floor.

Nakeesha Charles

Nakeesha Charles, originally from Springfield, Massachusetts, is a 21st-century American writer. Her fascination with reading since her youth was the foundation for her love of writing. She was a writer for school publications, print and digital, in high school and college. She graduated from Georgia State University with a BA in Journalism in 2004. She has resided in the South Florida area since 2005.

Pascal Depuhl was born in Tampa, FL and is the Chief Visual Content Creator at Photography by Depuhl based in Miami. He produces mind changing photography and cinematography for his clients. You can watch him give a TEDx talk about the art of changing minds. Pascal writes a blog about his adventures as a photographer, filmmaker and marketer. Rami Abraham

Rami Abraham is a WordPress developer and ‘gif savant’ at WebDevStudios. He’s been building with WordPress since version 2.8, with a heavy focus in JavaScript and CSS. Prior to that, he worked in a few lead roles at web agencies, with a focus on JavaScript application development. He enjoys working with an unending variety of frameworks, SVG animation, and is part of the AffiliateWP support team after hours.

A co-organizer of WordPress Lancaster / WordCamp Lancaster, Rami also attends and speaks at a variety of WordCamps, other tech conferences, and meetups. In his remaining time, Rami practices and writes music for a variety of small electronic music labels. Roy Sivan

I was born and raised in San Francisco. I traveled down to Los Angeles for college, and never really left. Even though I left college in marketing and did 6 years as a lead SEO and Internet Marketing guy, I was always a passionate developer. I became a full time developer and have a lot of experience as both a full time consultant, working at an agency, and working at a corporate type office. I currently work at Disney Corporate in Burbank, California doing WordPress and other development.

Ryan Fugate

Ryan Fugate is a BuddyPress enthusiast and mobile WordPress fanatic. Previously working in social media marketing using WordPress as a secret weapon where Ryan built sites for many major brands. His current status: BuddyPress trac and forums, creating fun plugins, WordPress as a mobile framework and coffee. When he’s not breaking WordPress he rides his Vespa around Los Angeles and frequently indulges in churro consumption at Disneyland.

Sarrah Vesselov

Sarrah Vesselov hails from Tampa, FL. She is the Creative Director for NRS and freelances in the areas of web design, PPC Marketing, SEO, and media project management. She teaches classes in WordPress, HTML5, CSS3, and internet marketing at several Tampa colleges. Sarrah has served as Mentoring Lead for SIGGRAPH, Production coordinator for Evolve CG, and is currently the Director for the Women Who Code Tampa chapter. Shanta Nathwani

Shanta R. Nathwani is a Web Design and Information Architecture Consultant as well as an Instructor in Web Design and CCIT Capstone at Sheridan College, located in Oakville, Ontario, Canada which includes teaching WordPress. The ICCIT program is a joint program with the University of Toronto at Mississauga. She teaches students and small businesses how to use their websites and social media to increase their online presence leading to increased revenues and improved customer service. She has assisted companies to incorporate social media in the real estate, financial, non-profit, education and technical fields to name a few. Shawn Hooper

Shawn is a partner at Fivesense Technologies in Ottawa, Canada. A lifelong computer geek, Shawn wrote his first database application at the age of 12, and ran a bulletin board system while in high school. He has been a web developer since 1995, and a WordPress developer since 2011. He has experience building applications for clients in government, non-profit and the private sector in both Canada and the United States. This is the 6th city in which he has attended a WordCamp, and his 3rd as a speaker. Stephanie Brinley

Once upon a time, there was a little girl named Stephanie. Her toes were cold. Like many little girls, Stephanie loved to dance, she loved to draw, and she loved to try out every typeface available on the computer when designing birthday cards for her family. Several years passed, and the little girl grew up. Now Stephanie loves to dance, she loves to draw, and she maintains a library of countless typefaces so she can always have just the right one for birthday cards, logos, and websites. After discovering a place where her toes are sometimes warm, Stephanie moved her family and her business to North Florida, where she attempts to balance web design, homeschooling, and exploring the world of flavors she can invent in her kitchen.

Sze Liu is the CEO and Founder of 852 Creative Marketing & Design. Originally from Hong Kong, Sze has always loved branding, marketing and technology and has been involved in the field throughout her career. She has managed online and offline marketing for start-ups and major corporations (Manpower, Inc. and Ryder System, Inc.). She also has experience in global business development, including projects based in China.

Sze has lived in South Florida for more than 20 years and holds a B.S. in marketing and international business from Florida Atlantic University, as well as an MBA from University of Miami. As co-founder of Wiredin Women, she also helps support a community of women who wish to learn, share ideas and become successful in online business.

Taylor Lovett

Taylor Lovett is the Director of Engineering at 10up, one of the biggest WordPress centric agencies in the world. Having been involved with WordPress since 2007, he has contributed to WordPress core, authored popular plugins (downloaded hundreds of thousands of times), ND spoken at many conferences across multiple continents. He is a lover of all things open-source. Other than developing web applications, Taylor is a lover of music. He enjoys listening to blues and jazz music as well as playing acoustic fingerstyle guitar.

Tim Sisson

Tim loves WordPress and enjoys leveraging it to meet businesses needs. He leads the Customer Community Team at InMotion Hosting where they write content and act as subject matter experts for software like WordPress.

He’s an avid outdoorsman who loves the crisp mountain air of the Virginia mountains. When he’s not tinkering with WordPress he spends his time on adventures with his wife Lisa, three daughters Autumn, Stella, and Petra.

Topher DeRosia

Topher is a husband and father from Grand Rapids MI. He’s been a WordPress developer for 5 years, and general web developer for 20 years. Topher has been a long-time supporter of WordCamp Miami and we’re glad to have him down to speak for the first time at our humble conference.
